The FreeRoamBlobber.com list of “The Top 5 Indie, First-Person RPG’s That You Can Play Now!”
1. Arcante
Arcante by Luca Favano was originally released October 27, 2020. A year later, we got the Definitive Edition which included improvements and many changes based on user feedback. The original release has mixed reviews on Steam, but the definitive edition only has 6 reviews, most of which are positive so far.
Arcante features realtime or turned based combat that can be entered into at any time like in Might and Magic 6 – 9. The game is a little rough around the edges and falters a bit in the later half, but you can really see the Might and Magic influence throughout the games 5-6 hour runtime. It has some unique mechanics like blocking and charged attacks that really enhance the combat experience.
Price: $6.99

2. Elmarion: The Lost Temple
Elmarion: The Lost Temple by Fleon Games is currently in early access and is sitting at mostly positive reviews on Steam. It’s last update was on October 13, 2023. The developer has a few other games in the series that are not blobbers, but are all in the world of Elmarion.
Elmarion features a party of 4 characters and real time combat. The developer is pretty active in the forums and updates are pretty big when they do come out. Let’s hope this leaves early access soon as it’s already feeling pretty promising! There is also a demo you can try before you buy!

3. Legendary Journeys
Legendary Journeys by Blind Monkey Games is the latest free roam blobber release we could find. It was released on November 5, 2023. It’s currently sitting on positive reviews on Steam. It’s last update was February 17, 2024.
Legendary Journeys features a party of 4 characters and turn based combat. The controls have a very retro feel to them and take a little getting used to and the interface isn’t the most user friendly, but the world seems massive and there is a ton to do.
This game has a demo you can try now!

4. Monsters of Mican
Monsters of Mican by Blankitt Productions recently got a release on Steam on March 25, 2024, but has been available on the Epic Game store since October 2023.
It’s a fun and silly game (example: the developer made a lot of the sound effects on his own – with his mouth). The Steam release contains tons of improvements from the original release such as better characters portraits.
Monster of Mican features a party of 4 characters and turn based combat. We even have an exclusive interview with the game developer that you can read here!
